Hold for pickup
You can require that any shipment be held for pickup at the nearest carrier location. This adds flexibility if there is no viable delivery address.
Why hold for pickup?
There are many reasons an address might not be viable for deliveries, temporarily or permanently. For example:
- The recipient might be out of town, at work, etc.
- The recipient might want to keep their home address private.
- The delivery location might not be secure from package thieves.
Where will the shipment be held?
Generally the carrier will hold the shipment at their closest holding facility to the destination address.
How are held shipments picked up?
The recipient will be notified by both the carrier and ReReady when a shipment is on hold for them. These notifications will specify where and how to pickup the shipment. In most cases, the recipient will need to present a photo ID before the shipment is released to them.
Can "hold for pickup" be requested after ordering?
Sometimes it is possible to request hold for pickup service after a shipment is underway, but not always. It depends on which carrier is transporting the shipment, and how close the shipment is to being delivered. If you place an order then decide you need to request hold for pickup, please contact us immediately.
What do the carriers say?
